20th Century Fox presents "Dr. Dolittle 2" Directed by Steve Carr.

"Funny From The Beginning To The End!" - The Associated Press

Many of the principal characters have returned once again, the good doctor, his wife, Lisa (Kristen Wilson), and his two kids, perky Maya (Kyla Pratt) and Charisse (Raven-Symone). This time around though Dr. Dolittle is on a crusade to save a forest that a lumber company plans to clear cut and the mean spirited Mr. Potter (Jeffrey Jones) and his lawyer (Kevin Pollak) will do anything to stop him. Dr. Dolittle believes that if he can repopulate an endangered species of bear in the area the courts will have to refuse permission to clear cut the forest. So it's up to him to convince a city bear (voiced by Steve Zahn) and a country bear (Lisa Kudrow) to get together and make a few cubs. Meanwhile, Dr. Dolittle is having problems with his 16-year old offspring Charisse, who has discovered boys and the desire to be free of her parents' strings.

Dr. Dolittle and his attorney wife put their heads together and work as a team to get rid of the bad guys. The doctor cares for his patients which include humans and other mammals and refuses to quit fighting on their behalf when the going gets tough. Trying to give Archie a vision for family life Dr. Dolittle says, "Life wouldn’t mean anything if I didn’t have my wife and kids to go home to." In return he gets the animals help him protecting the innocence of his 16-year-old daughter by chaperoning her activities with a streetwise young man. Dr. Dolittle see's Charisse wearing headphones and moving her hips to the beat, inspiring him to comment "That’s not dancing that’s advertising."

In the midst of all this a creature crisis develops. Dr. Dolittle is summoned to the forest by an officious raccoon (voiced by Michael Rapaport) for a rare audience with the God Beaver (Richard C. Sarafian) who says by way of introduction: "I'm just a simple fisherman who's been blessed with many friends."

There are no nasty animals or anything in this movie except for a crocodile who does his dirty work just offscreen and the bear is so accommodating he actually visits Dr. Dolittle in a restaurant and then enters the toilet and seems familiar with the function of a toilet seat. I feel like the bear was one of the funniest elements in this movie if you ask me.

Though most of the Archie action is convincingly played by a real bear which is named Tank (trained by Doug Seus) reality gets some nudging via use of animatronics and computer animation. Even in the few years since the original "Dr. Dolittle" the visual effects technology of Rhythm & Hues and other companies has made it possible for animal speech and action to be portrayed in a much more lifelike manner.

This movie looks very good and has a very nice transfer. Dr. Dolittle 2 is presented in the film's original 2.35:1 widescreen ratio and anamorphically encoded. The print is near excellent. The colors are crisp and clear without any bleeding over or smearing and pretty accurate fleshtones. Blacks are deep and contrast is very crisp.

I would recommend first you should rent this movie and if you enjoy it then buy it or you can go ahead and click here to buy this movie now if you wish.
