HeartBreakers

MGM and director David Mirkin team up to bring you Heartbreakers.

Weaver and Hewitt star as Max and Page Conners a mother and adult daughter con team. In addition to small-time scams their main play is getting rich men to a. marry mom, b. fall for daughter's seduction, and c. pay out a big divorce settlement. They somehow manage to do all this without either of them ever having to sleep with the men.

After they collect a big pay check from their latest victim (Ray Liotta) they head to Palm Beach for one last scam and hope of paying off a big IRS bill before they both go to jail. Gene Hackman stars as billionaire tobacco baron William Tensy the new mark. Hackman is the funniest thing about this whole movie, stealing every scene he's in, even from the scantily clad female stars. He looks terrible creating billows of smoke from his cigarettes. He only stops smoking long enough to light his next or when he is doubled over by an uncontrollable coughing fit.

The last 30 minutes didn't follow through. First there is the death of a character and it was very harsh to see Max and Page deal with the issue as if it was plain everyday matter. What happens next is best to be viewed upon oneself. However, I can say that most of it seemed too contrived. Director David Mirkin did a good job although somehow, he didn't catch some small plot holes and the over-the-top happy ending.

Overall, Heartbreakers was a very fun movie. I just wished they would have pushed the rating just a tad more. But, I guess it was pushed as far as they could go. This reminds me that again T&A was announced and presented, but going any further ended up cutting to another scene or fading out or tilting up. If you can look beyond the obvious faults you are in for a good time watching this movie. If you can not it will bother you and ultimately affect the outcome of your enjoyment when watching this movie.

I recommend you buy this movie and laugh all the way through it. You can click here to purchase the movie.
