Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back Movie: B Sound: A Picture: A- Reviewed By: Dolla' Bill Just when you thought Hollywood was safe...Kevin Smith (invades the Mecca of Movie Making and tears fun at just about everything and everybody in Hollywood. Including himself. As a bigger-than-average Smith fan (Not physically, I might add), and after seeing the movie on the big screen; I was really looking forward to the Special Edition DVD's. Smith usually doesn't disappoint when it comes to loading DVD's with lots of goodies for all View Askew fanboys to drool over; and this set is no exception. Including 42 deleted and extended scenes (That's right, 42!!), an outtake reel, music videos from Afroman and Stroke 9, a short Behind-the-Scenes Featurette, more cut footage, and the list goes on and on. The second disc alone is enough to keep you entertained well into the night, not the mention the movie that accompanies it. Movie: B This movie can be described with just one word...hilarious. Stars Mewes and Smith are great as they spout off their usual brand of off-beat comedy. It might have been just too funny for some people. There are a ton of inside jokes that fans of the View Askew universe may not be familiar with. If you loved any of Smith's earlier movies then you'll love this one; but if you didn't then this may just be too raunchy or offensive to some. This movie has some VERY raw humor, but it kept my stomach aching all the way until the very finale with an appearance by Morris Day and the Time. The only reason I gave it a low grade was due to the fact that they cut so much great stuff out. The deleted and extended scenes would've made this movie even better, and Smith should've released it as intended. I'm even thing of editing in the cut scenes because they're just so good. It also features a great job by Jason Lee and Ben Affleck (Both playing two different parts), and tons of special cameos that fans will definately enjoy. Sound: A The sound is right on spot as it features a beautiful Dolby 5.1 track mastered specially for the DVD release. It sounds crisp, with the dialogue cutting through the soundtrack like a ginsu through a soda can. The highs and lows come through very clear and the action sequences (The van explosion, lightsaber battle, and gunfight) sound awesome. Picture: A- The picture is just about as good as it can get on a DVD. The film transfer looks very good with the exception of one thing. There is some noticable scratches and marks on the print that show up in the deleted scenes quite often and rarely in the actual movie. It's very slight and doesn't detract at all from the pristine quality of the transfer. Colors look bright without looking washed out, and blacks and other dark colors are solid. Overall,
I'd definately recommended these DVD's to anybody who is a fan of Kevin
Smith's other movies. They are as funny or funnier than any of his previous
efforts and with the second disc full of bonus materials you just can't
go wrong. I'd give it two thumbs up, but then I'd drop the bong. Click here to purchase this DVD movie in our store. Edition Details:
