Artisan and director Worth Keeter team up to bring you "The Last Siege ".

Terrorists. It doesn't say it anywhere on the movie box (Probably due to 9/11), but that one word sums up the basic plot for the movie. A group of terrorists, known as hijack a train. Why, you might ask? Well, the Senator (Played by Ernie Hudson) is trying to enact a new bill to regulate gun control. It seems terrorists don't like this new bill and decide to take over the train the Senator is travelling on. But little do they know that an off-duty ATF agent (Played by Jeff Fahley) is onboard to spend time with his fiancee, who is also the Senator's press secretary.

Now, I thought "The Last Siege" would be a decent action-packed movie; but how I could I be more wrong. It's not that there isn't enough action; it's just that the action isn't too captivating or exciting. Next time they should spend their money on a good fight choreographer instead of the actors. The terrorists in this movie look like they've not even terrorists. I could go to a bar and get four guys that look more like terrorists than the actors in this movie. Don't get me wrong though; I'm not totally trashing this movie. Ernie Hudson puts in a great performance as does Beth Toussaint. The acting of the others leaves a little to be desired. The plot was a little slow for me as well, but it didn't get too dragged down to make it terrible. I think this movie could've benfitted greatly from a bigger budget, as the plot and the story are actually intriguing but do not work well when made cheaply.

Sound: B

The sound in this movie has it's good and it's bad points. The audio quality in the soundtrack is fine, but the sound effects sound thin, and not as vibrant as they should be. The music though, is quite good. The soundtrack kept me interested enough without distracting me from the actual movie. But all in all, the dialogue sounds good also, but the lack of impact from the sound effects hurts it a little.

If there's one problem with videos, it has to be this. Most of them are too dark in some places. It really doesn't hurt the movie much at all, but it's just a little issue I had to touch upon. Other than that small qualm, the picture is as good as it can get on video. It doesn't look washed out and is extremely good. No bleeding reds, no grit or specks, they way it should always be. Artisan sure knows how to transfer their prints well.

I might recommend this movie to myself after watching it. I would recommend it to action fans who like mindless movies that you don't have to think or laugh at. It has a few redeeming qualities, but enough for my tastes. I just wished again, that they could've dumped a couple million more into this movie. The plot gets interesting in places and most of the gripes I have with it stem from having a low budget. But it just proves that with a little money and a lot of imagination, a pretty decent movie can emerge.
