Universal Studios and Director Rob Cohen team up to bring you "The Fast And The Furious".

"Fires on all cylinders!" -Los Angeles Times

They've got the adrenaline rush and the mean machines, but most of all, they've got the extreme need for speed.

On the turbo-charged streets of Los Angeles, every night is a championship race. With nitro-boosted fury, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), rules the road turning all his challengers into dust. He and his rival, Johnny Tran (Rick Yune) are the boldest, the baddest and the best. But now, there's new rage on the road. They know he's tough, they know he's fast, but what they don't know is that he's a speed demon detective (Paul Walker) with enough drive and determination to come out the winner.

With intense full-throttle action, awesome high-speed stunts, and full-on pedal to the metal intensity, this fast and furious assault puts you in the driver's seat and dares you to exceed all limits.

Set in the seedy world of street racing teams, Brian (Paul Walker) is an undercover cop who has managed to get in with one such group, led by Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel). While his mission is to prove that they not only illegally race, but also hijack trucks on the side. Brian finds himself apprehensive of doing so when he becomes good friends with Dominic. They race along the streets of Los Angeles at night in their Honda's and Toyota's at 140 miles per hour. Toretto and his group of friends are the best at racing. They own a shop and are suspected of robbing trucks full of DVD players and other valuable electronic equipment. Brian's job is to infiltrate the group, without being caught, and bring them down from the inside. Of course, he manages to fall in love with Toretto's sister and pressures from his superior officers aren't helping matters any.

But this movie isn't just about reckless speed demons and their garter belted groupies. It's about young men (and one woman) who have like issues that can be worked out only on the surprisingly desolate streets of Los Angeles. In one case, a computer whiz kid was never able to go to MIT because he suffers from attention deficit disorder. Though these homicidal cretins cruise the highways in roaring, squealing, glistening chariots by the hundreds, the LAPD can't seem to arrest them or stop their illegal races.

The story is overly familiar and the characters are all types, but Cohen's cinematic techniques make "The Fast and the Furious" very watchable. As the title suggests, the film never lets up. It's restless and hyperactive, jittery and explosive. This is a movie that has many fast cars and some awesome special effects like you have never seen before in a car racing movie. And I can see why so many people like this movie, especially the people that really love street racing. This movie has all of that and more! In addition, the stunts are incredible to see and capture all of the excitement of this movie with no problem at all.

The vehicles look as cool as the men and women driving them. There's a token bad guy or two, a little gunplay, and a few pyrotechnics, but, overall, this movie is all about racing. And when it comes to capturing the essence of the sport, "The Fast and the Furious" beats Driven by several laps.
